The Cumberlands post

Hello to everyone! We are having a great time so far. God has definitely come before us and paved the way. Yesterday was a great day for our first. We were divided into 4 work groups and went four different places. Jeff worked at a local school laying tile and rubber base all day. Caleb and Matt worked on some yard work and clean up. Sara helped a crew clean out an older lady's garage. Josh and I worked at a family's home that was destroyed by flood. The house that Josh and I worked at will actually be shown on the Today show next Wednesday after we are home. That is kind of neat. We all had great opportunities and I could go on for ever telling you what we did and saw! A great day for sure!!

As for the team, we couldn't be more proud of them!! It is hot and uncomfortable, but they just worked right through it. They all worked hard yesterday and made a difference where God put them. It was so neat last night at praise time to hear their thoughts about their day. Each day will get harder as we work through the week, but it is so good for us all. That is why we are here. By Friday, it won't be our strength to finish well...it will be God's strength to get us there!

As for food...Oh my!!! We have already gone through over 6 loaves of bread, a "sams club" size jar of peanut butter, 10 pizzas, several gallons of milk and OJ, 10 lbs of taco meat, and the list goes on!! Wow! It is a job in it's own to keep all the tummies full! Everyone is pitching in though, and the load is light.

Hope all is well at home. We are drinking LOTS of water! Love you all! Pray for another great day with opportunities for God to use us. The family where Josh and I were have 5 kids, ages 5 - 16. They have been staying with friends since the storm. She said to me as we were leaving..."thank you so much for coming all the way here to help us. Days like this give us hope that we will be back in our home soon!" God is good...ALL the time!!

  4. Hi Jeff & Susan, It was good to hear from you via this blog. All is well here at home! I'm sure it takes alot of food for all those tummies!!! It's so neat when we see how God has gone before you and opened and closed doors for you. We will continue to pray for the team! We have a special prayer service tommorow night at church for the Missions Team.

  5. Hi Cumberlands!

We are looking forward to our Concert of Prayer tonight! We are basing our prayers off of Philemon 1:4-7. Our prayers will be: 1.Prayer of thankfulness (vs.4-5) 2.Prayer of effectiveness (vs.6)3.Prayer of adoration and praise (vs.7)

I will make sure to highlight the website. It seems many people are using it often!

We will also read some of the blogs to the congregation...so let us know what's going on.

We also have quite a few specials being sung. Even the adult choir will take part!

Well, have a great time serving the Lord!

    Pastor Todd

  6. Hi Cumberland's
The weather reports temps above 100 in Texas this week I'm not sure I would last to long. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. Your Blog is blocked at my office so I had to come to the church to say Hi. Love you all and miss you. God Bless You all and may God give you all strength and peaceful rest this week.
See you all soon. Drink lost of fluid!
    God Bless You All, Gail

  7. Hi Cumberlands,
I just want to tell you that I think it's awesome that you are serving Him in Texas. It would have been so easy and even understandable for you to say you weren't going because you have been through so much lately and yet you finished the course and kept the faith! In a time when you would be emotionally drained and just plain exhausted you are working in horrendous heat and doing it not for earthly treasure. What does this tell me? You have the power of Christ within you!!!! Praise His name!!!!! Isn't it so sweet to give to others and walk away feeling rewarded? Please know that I have been and will continue to be praying for you. Your strength in the face of adversity praises the Lords' name. Be blessed and know that you have a congregation standing in the gap for you! Pastor Todd arranged a Glory to God service tonight and your missions trip was worthy! We were blessed to gather together for this cause and rage the principalities and powers protective clause for you all... It was truly a heart of worship service and prayer. God just keeps on blessing!
    Rest in His Care,
